This is the main picture Gallery in the city, and a way to enjoy and understand Venetian paintings from the 14th up to the 18th century.
In this art tour, your tourist guide will take you through the rooms of the Gallery showing and explaining to you how the Venetian school of art developed. The Gallery is housed inside three different old and historical Venetian buildings (the seat of a guild, a church and a monastery) which were assembled in order to create the Accademia Picture Gallery.
Your guide will tell you about the beginnings of Venetian art with paintings influenced by the Byzantine and Gothic styles with artists such as Paolo and Lorenzo Veneziano, then continue through the triumph of the Venetian early Renaissance with works by Giovanni Bellini, Cima da Coneglianio and Carpaccio.
The art of the mature Renaissance are shown through such artists as Titian, Lorenzo Lotto, Tintoretto and Verones and the XVII and XVIII century are also well represented with important paintings by Bernardo Strozzi, Tiepolo, Guardi, Longhi and Canaletto.
