Classical Walking Tour

The most classical walking tour of Venice, from St. Mark's square to Rialto

This is the most classic walking tour, starting in Saint Mark’s Square where your private tourist guide will tell you about the famous Doge’s Palace and its beautiful architecture without going into the palace itself, and then take you to visit Saint Mark’s Basilica (with your private licensed guide no lines to enter the Basilica!) and admire the unique gilded Byzantine mosaics and extraordinary marble walls and floor. Before leaving Saint Mark’s’ Square, you’ll see the two towers, the Clock Tower with the life sized statues of the ‘Mori’ on the roof and the Bell Tower, the tallest structure in the whole of Venice; the Marciana Library and the Procuratie, all of which are important remnants of the old Republic of Venice.

During the second part of the tour, you will follow hidden alleys and pass through typical Venetian ‘campos’ – squares – in the Rialto area, and your guide will tell you about the city, her architecture and lifestyle, before arriving at the finishing point, Rialto Bridge itself , where you’ll hear about the history of the celebrated market bridge, as well as the nearby historical Rialto Marketplace.
